    Robbed

We were robbed on Monday.  We had an open house on Sunday in an attempt to sell our house.  Two “shady looking characters” came by and our realtor did not like the looks of them.  He said they were too young to be buying our house.  Anyway, coincidentally on Monday somebody broke in through a 2’ x 2’ sliding bathroom window.  This means the person had to be able to fit through a 2’ x 1’ hole in the house.  Not impossible for some, but not possible for many.  They gathered all of our easily moved items (3 laptops a portable stereo, and some other equipment) in my office in the basement, and then went upstairs for Becca’s laptop and her pearls (stupidly kept in her dresser drawer.)  Nothing else was disturbed in the least, not even my PowerMac G5 w/ a 30” Apple Cinema Display (sitting in my office not 3 feet from the gathering place)  They knew just what they were after, and exactly where it was. I am convinced that it was at least one of the men who came to look at the house the day before.

You may have noticed that I seem to know some details (the staging area for instance)  It just happens that we are trying to sell our house…  remember?  A poor Realtor who was coming by to preview the house for some clients got the living daylights scared out of her as she entered the house while the perpetrator was on his way down the stairs.  He bolted out the side door (conveniently located at the bottom of the stairs) with only Becca’s laptop and her pearls.  Everything else was still sitting in my office.

On another note entirely, We managed to sell our house yesterday for full price… even with a broken window. smile
