    Up to speed

The last couple of weeks have been a little hectic… but what’s so strange about that, it being holiday time an all.  We headed home to Boston to be with my family for Christmas.  We were supposed to fly out on the 21st of December, but a fairly large snowstorm (large by Seattle-Tacoma standards) prevented that.  With our flights cancelled, and Alaska Air unable to get us out before the 28th, we were about to give up on the idea of going home for Christmas.  Then we got a call from my sister.  She was able to get us First Class ticket to Boston on United using her miles.  All we needed to do was purchase return tickets on Southwest and we were good to go!

It was a blast visiting folks, but just as exhausting as all travel is.  Back in T-Town in time to see the snow melting, do the dog swap thing with Mal and hunker down for some rainy winter days.  It has been great to be home.

Murray Morgan Bridge to get some attention?

According to the folks over at Exit 133, the Murray Morgan bridge might get some much needed love.  This has been a while in the making.

    Snow Day or Late Start?

We have been getting a little bit of snow around here.  By “little bit” I mean less than 3 inches.  But understand that 3 inches is a lot for Tacoma, WA.  I grew up in the Northeast where we got lots of snow and school was still not canceled.  In Seattle a few years back, we got 3 Inches, followed by some slight warming and then a freeze.  Shut the place down for nearly three days.  Diving was downright dangerous because they don’t clear roads around these parts.

    Happenings in Tacoma

Wow…  This weekend has been one busy weekend.  It all started on Friday night, when Becca and I went to the The Grand’s 72 Hour Film Competition at the Rialto.  We were in one of the movies, so we thought we ought to check out what got left on the editing room floor.  There were many great films by many great artists.  The screening ended a bit on the late side… so what else is there to do but head up to Doyles for a pint or two.  Saturday Morning, we hosted a baby shower for Vanessa.  By we, I mean Becca.  I was decidedly absent from the event.  Instead, i got some of the guys whose wives were taking over my house… and headed down to the Rosewood for a bit of lunch and a couple of beers.  Then, much later that evening, there was Prom.  Who could miss prom.  We headed over to the Hotel Murano to chill out at Prom.  The loud thumping music, and the Cirque du Solei theme truly completed the evening for me.  Sunday Morning started out with a visit to the Milwaukee Cafe for the Canadian Breakfast Sandwich and then a walk at Pt. Defiance with Orion.  He was one happy pup when that was over.  The rest of the day was general “lazy Sunday” activity until we headed up to Bellevue to spend the evening with Becca’s parents, it being Mother’s day and all.

As I have been browsing about over the last few days, I have discovered many blogs and/or websites dedicated to Tacoma.  I am going to keep track of them in this post over the next few weeks.
