    Setback

So… about a week ago I made my decisions about what to do with James’s old PC.  It has an MSI MS-6378 v.3 Motherboard, and a KMD Athlon 64 running at 1.8 GHz, and about a quarter gig of memory.  A crappy onboard video chipset and well.. not much else…  Oh… an 80 GB drive, a CD Burner, and a DVD-ROM reader.

I decided that I would build a MythTV from the device… It seems to me, that I just need a larger HD, Video Capture Card, Video card, and perhaps some more RAM…

So I got the system up and running with a fresh copy of Debian and have been working on getting that working with my network, (mostly Apple) ... everything was just happy today… hunky dory…

    Until the power went out…

Now the machine only makes a repeating 1 second beep I think I have it down to bad video card, or bad RAM… and when I remove the RAM the tones stop… but nothing else happens… I get no video.  So…most likely RAM… but maybe both ?

    I dunno.

But hopefully my hoes for a MythTV are not yet dashed.
