HP tc4400 running Ubuntu 8.4t
I installed Ubuntu 8.4 on my tc4400 earlier this month…and like Ubuntu 6 on an older tc4200 everything ran well… Most everythign that is.
I have gotten the stylus to work by uncommenting the following lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
InputDevice “stylus” “SendCoreEvents”
InputDevice “cursor” “SendCoreEvents”
InputDevice “eraser” “SendCoreEvents”
What I don’t seem to have working just yet is the following:
Processor Scaling
- Stylus Button
- Screen Rotation
- Soft Buttons (the “Q,” rotate, and “input panel” touch buttons on the screen bezel)
- Scroll Dial on edge of screen
- Biometric Fingerprint Reader
I will keep working on these items, and will update this post as I discover the fixes for each of these items.
2008.05.26 UPDATE: Processor scaling was resolved simply by a BIOS Update. I had F.05 and I upgraded to F.09. You can find that update here.

Now that my “new G9” has become my “trusty G9” I have a want to create a photo log… You know.. a photo per day type thing. I am still working out the details… Should I create my own, or use Flickr. I will keep you posted as I suss out the answer.
Annoyed
Today I was so very annoyed… It was one of those kinds of annoyed, where you have no idea why it is that you are annoyed, yet you are ready to bite off the head of the first person you see. Well… that has been my day. I sometimes wonder where I come up with that. It feels so unlike me. I hate it. I hate it a lot.
Happenings in Tacoma
Wow… This weekend has been one busy weekend. It all started on Friday night, when Becca and I went to the The Grand’s 72 Hour Film Competition at the Rialto. We were in one of the movies, so we thought we ought to check out what got left on the editing room floor. There were many great films by many great artists. The screening ended a bit on the late side… so what else is there to do but head up to Doyles for a pint or two. Saturday Morning, we hosted a baby shower for Vanessa. By we, I mean Becca. I was decidedly absent from the event. Instead, i got some of the guys whose wives were taking over my house… and headed down to the Rosewood for a bit of lunch and a couple of beers. Then, much later that evening, there was Prom. Who could miss prom. We headed over to the Hotel Murano to chill out at Prom. The loud thumping music, and the Cirque du Solei theme truly completed the evening for me. Sunday Morning started out with a visit to the Milwaukee Cafe for the Canadian Breakfast Sandwich and then a walk at Pt. Defiance with Orion. He was one happy pup when that was over. The rest of the day was general “lazy Sunday” activity until we headed up to Bellevue to spend the evening with Becca’s parents, it being Mother’s day and all.
