Staff Retreat Day….
Yesterday, we had a Staff Retreat day where I work… It was actually communications training… sort of one of those days of team building exercises (except they were communications building - which we need badly) Communicatons often results in team building anyway… so I am not sure what the exact difference is, but… my real gripe is not that this was silly… it was actually interesting… My main gripe is that I should have been in my office working on these machines for Cambridge, and things are just not working out according to my plan. I don’t know how I am supposed to get half of this stuff done by myself, and it doesn’t help one bit when I am required to go to other things….
Well that’s about it for me for now.
Lack of Planning by you….
How does the saying go… “Lack of Planning by you does not constitute and emergency for me.” Seems to me these days that all I get is trouble that is a direct result of other people’s lack of planning. The College that is using our facilities this summer has given me a set of duplicated CDs and a bad Xerox of the serial numbers and license info… Here I am installing this software and none of the licence numbers match and several bits of software don’t even have serial numbers… The guy who represents this Other college is not even avaliable… I am just so fed up with this whole show…
On a more positive note… Much of our new hardware is in.
Too much work!!!
I am a salaried employee at a small local liberal arts college. This summer we are renting our facilities out to another college who will be running an MBA program on our campus. This is not going to affect anybody or any part of our jobs…. Yeah right…
Screaming!!!
I just want to get out of here, I can’t wait….
Car salesmen
So yesterday, after the hike, I wen over to the local Chevrolet dealer to talk to him about a used 2002 Avalanche he supposedly had on the lot. Turns out the ad I read was weeks old, and that truck was not on the lot. “but” he said, “I do have this new one that has the same pricetag” So we look at it, drive it, and all is great… Then the snowball (or should I say Avalanche) begins. So we are sitting there, and they give me some outlandish numbers… (never speaking them of course, only pointing at them on a slice of paper) It was a really surreal experience…
