    Apple Care Update

OK…  Here I am posting some Hi Res photos.  This is the damage to my computer..  Keep in mind that I have babied this thing, and aside from a few micro-scratches on the bottom face, and a little bit of hear from where my watch hits the left front corner of the wrist wrest… there has not been a single scratch on this baby in the almost 3 years that I have owned it.  10 days in Texas and all of my hard work has been changed.

    Apple Care nightmares

My 1.0 GHz Titanium PowerBook G4’s screen began to fail about 2 weeks ago…  So at my earliest convienince I brought it to the Apple Store at University Village and showed it to the geniuses behind the bar.  They determined that it needed to pay a visit to the AppleCare repair center in Texas.  Knowing that would be the case before I went in, I wisely backed up my data.

Off goes my beloved PowerBook for the necessary reparis, which are only a new screen, or a new cable, or a new video card IE: motherboard.  It spends about 8 days on hold waiting for some part… and showes up at my door about 10 days after I gave it to them.

Woo Hoo!!  My computer is back!!!

Open the box… and what do I see????

The lid of the computer (the top surface when it is closed) is scratched all to hell!!  When I sent it in, there was not a ingle scratch on this surface!  and now it looks like somebody set it on a sandy table upside down and spun it around a few times…  Huge, deep long scratches in the form of concentric arcs all across the lid of my precious computer!!

I will take some pictures when I get home tonight and post them here for you to see, then I will be off to the Apple Store to get this situation fixed.

Man am I pissed!!  Oh… and to top it off… they wiped the Hard Disk…  remember I backed up all the data…  but I didn’t have a drive large enough to back up the entire disk… so now I need to spend a whack of time reinstalling programs!!

Oh and the repair??  I got a shiny new screen, that looks very nice…  but the hinges are extraordinarily loose.  What are those folks in Texas doing down there?!?!?

I am not terribly impressed with Apple today.
